the dnc had a poll question on their website meant to smear thompson, and the question had a comments section..the comments were split between democrats who were scared by his electability and half kinda liked the guy, at least more than hillary...the dnc pulled the poll question so nobody else could praise him..

This is the perception you people would love. Supposedly he is going to run as an "outsider" What a stinking joke.
He is no "outsider" because before he became a Senator and after he left office, he was one of those dreaded creatures who chase after members of Congress- a "K' Street Lobbyist. He was a lobbyist for 19 years before he joined the Senate and went back to being a lobbyist after he left the Senate in 2004- a total of 22 years lobbying although you would have been under the mistaken impression he had just gone back to his acting career
He had been driving his fancy cars for years but when he ran for office, his staff rented a beat up pick up truck and had chewing tobacco readily visible on the seat. Props, just props. Not to mention his latest prop- the wife who just happens to be 4 years older than his oldest daughter.
We don't need an actor to "play" the part of President- we need one.

One thing people have to remember (they were talking about this on the news today) is that we're talking about Fred Thompson, not Arthur Branch, or even the guy who went after Nixon's staffers during Watergate (your politics can change in 30 years).
There's going to be a difference between what everyone THINKS they'll get, and what they ACTUALLY get. If you believe that Thompson is the right guy for the job, then by all means vote for him. But from what I've heard, he's less all Reagan and more between Reagan and Bush, with a little bit of Giuliani thrown in.
So, no, Fred Thompson doesn't scare this liberal, because he's not what the press makes him out to be (this is true with every politician), I'm afraid people will vote for him hoping to get a hardliner, no-bull guy with a witty comment, and instead get a politician.

No, but if it makes you happy, you should believe it. His lackluster 8 years of public service are dwarfed by his 17 years as an active Washington lobbyist. So as a Democrat, I think he'll make an excellent candidate.

edit:
This is what's on the DNC website now, and it is a reason to be nervous about F. Thompson:
"Fred's Last Role Was In Gucci Gulch...
Fred Thompson is attempting to portray himself as an outsider, but he was paid $760,000 by London-based Equitas Ltd., which "held billions of dollars to pay off claims from people sickened by asbestos."

I doubt that Fred Thompson is the kind of man who would want to scare any of his fellow citizens. And I hadn't noticed any "libs" as you refer to them, shaking. I have nothing against Fred Thompson, yet that I know of, but I don't think that the US will elect a former lobbyist as President.

I think you've ODed on Thompson press releases. I'm not saying anything against the guy but maybe you'd like to point out some of the awesome things he's DONE rather than talked about.

He's got about 12% of the Republican vote for President right now. That said, when he was in the senate, he was described as "not very hard working". I don't think libs are worried one bit - I think that is just a perception. I think he is a good man, and a fine actor, but I will not vote for him for president. One thing I will give him that so many of ALL the other politicans - he's like Barry Goldwater - he says what he means, so even if you don't like what he says you know where he stands. Kind of a miracle in Washington - a politician that tells the truth!

I watched Fred speak in the Senate. He's not flowery but like many others say what he says you tend to believe. And what he says makes sense. He doesn't tap dance.
If this were about sixty years ago and he were a Democrat you'd relate him to Harry S. Truman. That is what may bother some liberal Democrats.
