Some of the people at work are having a competition - we have to submit self-appraisals to our head of department, who will read them and give his own comments.

The challenge is for us all to include a well known lyric from an 80s song in our appraisal comments - but without our head of dept realising what we are doing!

Any suggestions?

Might seem crazy but I don't know how far you guys are going with it.....but here is one that caught my goofy eye:

How To Be A Millionaire (By ABC)

(released 1985)

I've seen the future, I can't afford it
Tell me
the truth sir, someone just bought it
Say mr. whispers!
Here come the click of dice
Roulette and blackjacks - gonna
build us a paradise
Larger than life and twice as ugly
If we have to live there, you'll have to drug me

Maybe these luxuries can only compensate
For all the
cards you were dealt at the hands of fate

So tell
me
Tell me! tell me! How to be a millionaire
Tell me!
tell me! How to be a millionaire!
Millionaire! Billionaire!
Trillionaire!

Hardly surprising if you might
consider
Loyalties go to the highest of bidders
What's my opinion? I'd give you ten to one
Give
me a million, a franchise on fun
But there are millions who
often get nowhere
And there's just one secret I think
you should share

Maybe these luxuries can only
compensate
For all the cards you were dealt at the hands of
fate

So tell me
Tell me! tell me! How to be a
millionaire
Tell me! tell me! How to be a millionaire!
Who wants to be millionaire?

I do! - I don't!
- I do!
Who wants to be millionaire?
I do! - I
don't!

I've seen the future and I
can't afford it

Good luck!

Hmmm... I think your best strategy is to use song lyrics that are common phrases...

"might as well jump"?

Every rose has its thorn...

I'd do anything for you (Gloria estefan)

I ran, I ran so far away...

Love is a battlefield...

As an employee, are you "hungry like the wolf"?

Do you seem to have an "invisible touch"?

Is your phone number 867-5309? That would be easy!

What a fun idea... I hope you do well!!!

If 'I should be so lucky' as to..... - 'Kylie'

I will of course give my commitment to this firm come 'Rain or Shine' - 5 Star

'It's not unusual' for me to stay at my desk until 7pm each night - Tom Jones

I often find this role needs me to be-'Karma Chameleon' - Culture Club

My colleague said 'Don't you forget about me' in your appraisal - Simple Minds

If you're feeling sarcastic you could say something like "Dizzy, I'm so dizzy my head is spinning, can I go home please?" I know this is an old song but it was covered by Vic Reeves in the 80's. Good luck!!!!

it seems that its supposed to be more suttle and not so obvious.

Some thoughts of lines that people may or may not notice.
(use quotes in your prose)
"What have I done to deserve this" West End Girls (Is this from the 80's?)
"he world is your oyster" Murray Head One night in Bangkok
"When I look back now" Bryan Adams Summer of 69
"Some people live their dreams" Toto Africa
"You aint seen the best of me yet" Irene Cara Fame
"Always look on the bright side of life" Monty Python
"We all stand together" Paul McCartney
"I'm so excited" Pointer Sisters
"Relax" Frankie Goes to Hollywood
"Everybody wants to rule to world" Tears for Fears
"I got myself a job, gunna pay the rent, she said 'yeah?' I said 'Oh yeah'" George Thorogood Bad To The Bone
"I'm on Fire" Da Boss
"Walk of life" Dire Straits
"There must be an angel" Eurythmics
"Maid of Orleans" OMD
"You and me" Spargo
"Beat It" Michael Jackson
"Like a Prayer" Madonna
"The only way is up" Yazz
"Only you" Flying Pickets
"The longest time" Billy Joel
"I'm still standing" Elton John
"Every little thing she does is magic" Police
(May be good to refer to a co-worker)

And after that, I give, let others give there's
Good Luck!
