Pythagoras theorm can be used in the following ways:- 1)determining the trajectory of a bullet or the distance from something you are 2)Walls were erected using the Pythagorean theorem. 3)a squared + b squared = C squared 4)it can be used to find distances on maps from one place to another using the grids on the map and then convert the map scale to see how far apart they actually are on the ground. It is actually pretty cool. I never thought I'd use the pythagoran theorem for anything!

an engineer only equipped with a transit and a leveling rod has to determine the height of a building just a few meters from him, could he be able to do the job?
yes he could. with the aid of his transit and rod he could determine the distance of the building with respect to the transit as well as the angle with respect to the horizontal position of the transit by spotting from the transit the top of the building. and given the angle and the horizontal distance the height can be now determine using the Pythagoras theorem.

Very important in laying out the foundation for a new building. It is important to have all angles exactly equal to 90 degrees. The building being rectangular, or having rectangular sections, you would be able to calculate the required diagonals using the Pythagorean Theorem.
