Right I came off my period a week ago and I've just come on again. Normally they're regular. I am not on the pill but took the morning after pill last weekend, could this be the reason? I've taken the morning after pill before and this has never happened. Had anyone got any ideas why? I have come on 3 weeks early, surely thats not normal?

Hi there

What I would advise you is to see your MD and only your MD will be able to say for sure what is the problem and give you the appropriate medication or advice.

You will need to be examined, and no one on the net can diagnose your problem simply by reading your question.

It may some thing simple but one never knows.

Your MD only.

Cheers

A

Breakthrough bleeding is a possible side effect of the morning after pill.

Conception usually does not occur right during intercourse, but it can, in which case you may just be passing the material from the terminated conception.

Bleeding is not unheard of even if conception did not take place. I have read it can be just like your period, with a bit of heavy bleeding and cramping.

I am not a doctor, but that is what I have read about the pills and the possible side effects. If you are tremendously concerned, call your doctor's office and ask to speak to the doctor or one of the nurses, so you can set your mind at ease.

Be well.

I'm not a dr but am a woman who has had a lot of experience with breakthrough bleeding and yes one possibility is as the last poster said stress. I've had myself get so stressed out sometimes that I have bled. Another possibility is that of an infection. Certain kinds of infections such as to the cervix can cause bleeding to occur. I've had several of these infections before where I've had bleeding and it can be uncomfortable.

I would recommend getting in touch with your dr as well to see what they say and think could be going on.

The moring after pill usually brings on some bleeding. It is jump starting you into a cycle to shed those unwanted eggs.

I suppose it depends on your age a bit...

But it could be related to stress, a hormonal inbalance, weight gain/loss, being on new meds... There are lots of things that can cause it. Your cycle this month might just have been smaller than normal.

If you are concerned check with your doctor, but if it only happens once, I wouldn't be too concerned.
