Yahoo answers has a detachment tat friends can't afford. Here, we are only looking at the question. If a friend asked me the same thing, I would consider the whole relationship, which might be more than the friend needs. I might also be too close to the problem to offer constructive advice. That being said, there are questions that I would not ask here, that I would certainly ask my friends, so I think it all balances out.

I get my questions answered more frequently and I learn a lot but I've never gone out and done something real in person with any of my Y!A friends and there is something to be said for doing something real from time to time.
Language is great but there is more to life than language. When you have a really good friend and you share an experience, it somehow improves that experience without even having to say a word.
However I do get some very nice warm fuzzies from my internet friends and I thank YA'll for that.

Sometimes it takes an uninvolved party to answer a question honestly and without taking sides. Those of us on this site are dedicated to asking for information and to sharing our own knowledge and experience. Most are decent, honest people who try their best to give the information requested. For some very few, this site gives them the opportunity to express their hatred for others, but as we continue to tell them we don't tolerate hate mail, the number is diminishing.
Personally, I have learned a lot on this site. Sometimes I don't want to let friends and family know how I'm feeling, but I can always count on receiving intelligent, thoughtful answers on Yahoo.
