My family, my little turtle, my bed, my books, pictures of family and friends, and other things I like, that bring me good memories of places and people I love.
Brazilian food, especially rice and beans. I love many different types of foods, and can eat anywhere. When I was in other countries, I eat their food, and loved it. But, of course, the food you eat with your family, all your life, says "home" to you more than any other.
Now, I'll tell you something that happened to me, many years ago. I lived in London, for six months, and traveled to other countries, in Europe, before coming back to Brazil. I knew I would be well and happy there, because I'm very easily adapted to new places and people, and because I really wanted to go. I did miss my family, but could have stayed there for many years, happily.
What really surprised me, that had never ocurred to me before, was how much I missed the Brazilian sky, at night, especially the Southern Cross. It's one of the symbols of my country, and the first constelation every Brazilian child learns to identify. I'm always looking at the sky and, in London (anywhere, in the Northern Hemisphere), we can't see the same stars we see here. I couldn't believe how much I missed them!!
When I came back home, I took a plane from Lisbon, Portugal, to Rio de Janeiro, and one of the first things you can see, when you're arriving there (I live in another city), is the statue of the Christ, another very well-known symbol of Rio, and Brazil. Again, the emotion I felt is difficult to describe, but you can call it a "Wow, I'm home!!"
