If you are using PPPOE to connect to your ISP, you should not have to setup DNS and all that.

Are you sure the Router is connecting through modem to your ISP account? Does Ping / traceroute from the router work? Did you setup your PC to go through the router instead of through the modem directly?

Just because the router worked previously doesn't mean it will work the same way once you've relocated - each Service Provider's configuration may vary depending what state (or region) you are now at.

Depending who your Service Provider is, and sometimes even your modem (you didn't mention either one - some modems may need the router configure in a slightly different way). Below are some things you can try (remember this is manual troubleshooting, no need to insert the CD when doing the instructions below).

If your ADSL connection is PPPoE try this, meaning if your PC is connected direct to your modem and you need to log on to the internet using a connection manager (in other words, you need to enter username and password):

1.) Power off both modem and router.
2.) Plug the ethernet cable from your modem to the internet port of the router and one computer to one of the 4 ports.
3.)Power up modem, wait for the light to stabilize (or when DSL light is lit) - this indicates your modem has established communication to your ISP.
4.)Power up your router.
5.)On your computer open IE browser and hit the stop button (or F5) to stop it from getting online. You just need to use the browser to get to the router page and configure.
6.)In the address bar (NOT search bar) , type 192.168.1.1 and hit Enter. It will prompt you for the username and password of the router - leave the username blank, type admin for the password (if you had used the CD previously, this may not work - try the password you had entered before).
7.)Once the router page is up - choose PPPoE for Internet login type.
8.)Enter the username and password your internet provider gave you. You may need to type the username in email format (e.g. name@sbcglobal.com).
9.)Select Keep alive.
10.)Save settings.
11.)Click to Status tab (at the upper far right of the Linksys page). It should show you're connected. You should also have values for IP address and DNS Servers. If not, click connect. If an error comes up - "Authentication Failed" means either you mistyped your username or password, or both.
12.)If you get "Cannot connect to PPPoE server" your modem and router may have the same (LAN) IP address. You need to go back to Setup page and look for router's IP address (it will show 192.168.1.1). Change it to 192.168.2.1 or 10.10.10.1 - save settings on the router. Restart your computer, if you know how to release and renew the IP of your PC, you can do that instead (because I'm too darn lazy to give you the instruction for that right now – although I think you probably know how- just restart the PC to simplify things... sorry :P). Then follow steps 5, 6 and 11.

If you don't need to use a connection manager and your ISP did not give you a username and password for your account, try this:

.) Power off both modem and router.
7.)Click to Status tab (at the upper far right of the Linksys page). It should show you're connected. You should also have values for IP address and DNS Servers.
8.)If not, you need to go back to Setup page and look for router's IP address (it will normally show 192.168.1.1). Change it to 192.168.2.1 or 10.10.10.1 - save settings on the router. Restart your computer, if you know how to release and renew the IP of your PC, you can do that instead (because I'm too darn lazy to give you the instruction for that right now, just restart the PC to simplify things... again, sorry :P).

Oh yeah, some ISPs need MAC cloning... if you still can't get online through the router but can with one of your computers when plugged in to the modem, try this:

1.)Connect the same PC that can get online through the modem to your router, go to the router's Setup page and click on "Mac Address Clone".
2.)You may need to select "Enable", then click "Clone your PC's MAC".
3.)Save your settings.
4.)Click “Status”, check the value of the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you’re not online, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem. (Power down PC, router and modem – then power up modem first, then router and then your PC).

Once you can get online on the wired computer, configure wireless -

1.)Click to Wireless. Change Wireless Network Name (SSID) - this is the name of your network that your wireless computers will be connecting to. Save settings.
2.)If you want to setup wireless security, read on - Click to Wireless Security which is next to Wireless (or Basic Wireless settings, I can't remember at the moment).
3.)Select WEP or WPA (remember not all wireless computers ccan handle WPA, so I suggest WEP 64bit).
4.)Type any password and click Generate (if WPA, just enter a password and choose TKIP).
5.)Copy KEY 1 on a piece of paper (this will be used by all wireless comuters). WPA uses the password.
6.)Save settings.

Some things to remember:
1.)Disable any firewall on your PC - it usually conflicts with the router's firewall.
2.)If you have a connection manager software on your PC, disable it or uninstall - this may conflict with the PPPoE on the router. Mac OS also may have its PPPoE turned on, make sure it is disabled.
3.)If these fail call Linksys toll free number (its indicated on the box of the router) – who knows you may get lucky and get it done faster, if not ask for second level.

Oh, and another thing - when talking with those Linksys folks... they should give you a case number as well as the present tech's badge ID. Take note of both - it'll come in handy in getting better service.
