Sabathia is unbelievable, and I can't think of anyone more underrated than him (ruling out rookies who haven't really proven himself).

Anyhow, here's your chance to show some love for players who don't get it from anywhere else!

My vote would go to Jake Peavy of the Padres. Going into today's games, Peavy, in 14 starts, is 8-1 with a 1.82 ERA. In 94 innings, he has given up 67 hits and 27 walks while striking out 103 and only allowing 1 home run.

Yes he is underrated. I have always argued this point but people look at how many wins he has had during his carrer and they say thats not enough. Sabathia was part of the last Indians team that had it's run frmo 1994-2001 in 2001. That year he had great hitting behined him and a good bullpen. Whada you know he won 17 games but had the highest ERA of his carrer. The next year the Indians start rebuilding and their bullpen is awful and hitting isn't much better and he only wins 13 games. Next year same story. In 2004 he had a bad season. Although they had a bad bullpen he had some nice bats behind him with Martinez and Hafner coming around. Only won 11 games. In 2005 he has a great bullpen and great hitting and he wins 15 games. In 2006 his ERA is 3.22 but only wins 12 games because his bullpen blows every other game for him. The reason he is doing so well this year is that the Indians hitting is great, and the bullpen is much improved. He is probably the most overlooked SP in the league. To the person who answerd first , you can't consider Sabathia a hall of famer because he is only 26 years old. Anyways Sabathia has a bright future and may be one of the last players within reach too win 300 games if he can stay healthy. He ha 90 and has another 14 or more years left on him.

Sabathia's been around for 7 years now. Maybe because he's in a smaller market like Cleveland it might seem like he doesn't get as much hype. He's an above-average SP, good, but not great, taking into consideration the other AL aces taking his spotlight away.

Most underrated pitcher: Dan Haren, doing it with no Offensive support.
Most underrated hitter: Kevin Youkilis, his unselfish end to the hitting streak by taking 2 walks to help his team should be a message to selfish players across the league. He's been solid at the plate and a gem in the field both at 3B and 1B.

Sabathia came out of Vallejo, California with a "future star" tag that came with him to MLB. Although he was good the past few years 15-10 and 4.03 in 2005, 12-11 and 3.22 in 2006, he did have some injuries and has never performed to that "elite" status that many were expecting. This year he came in healthy and down 20-30 pounds in weight and was ready to go. At 9-1 and 3.09 to this point this year he is finally performing to the level many expected from him. I don't believe he is underrated to the true baseball fan, I just believe most fans are waiting to see if he settles in with these numbers in years to come or reverts to his past years numbers. I will offer up Russell Martin, Dodgers catcher, as being the most underrated player today.

I think Ken Griffey belongs in that group now. You never hear his name nationally. Unlike Sabathia he is 100 percent a hall of famer, he is having a all star season on track for about 30 homeruns and third in the allstar balloting for outfielders. He's going to finish in the top 5 to 10 in career homeruns and has been almost a every year gold glover.

Well, I really think Melky Cabrera gets lost in Damon's shadow even though he's playing CF now better than Damon ever has with the Yankees.
They were even thinking of trading him but came to their senses and kept him. Whew! Dodged a bullet there!!!!
Barring any serious injury, Melky's got a bright future ahead of him!

Also, with the way Miguel Cairo has been playing these last few games, he's showing a lot of promise! He's been great at every position they've put him in along with small ball and generally just playing his own game.
GO Mickey & Melky!

Matt Holliday. He is currently the N.L Average leader, and last year was among the leaders. He also hit 29 Homers last year and is an extremely talented all around great player on the Rockies. He plays left field.

No remember this is coming from a Mets fan but I think Jorge Posada. He has been playing in the shadows of Jeter, Arod and the rest of the Evil empire for years now.

The easiest answer I can give - No. He is the most underrated. And he is a good guy too. I was giving him a hard time when they came to Chicago last year - and he was a funny guy back. I like him.
