does anyone here own emus? are they good animals just for pets. my family has a large farm with llamas,horses,goats,sheep,rabbits,ect.. but will emus be ok with llamas?what are there down sides?

I think you would want to be very careful about having an emu as a pet. The other animals you mentioned have been domesticated for hundreds/thousands of years but emus are wild birds, very big wild birds. Their main form of defence is a kick from their strong legs which would break your leg and their sharp toes make nasty gashes on human skin. Emus can be farmed for meat and eggs, but I repeat, think very carefully about making pets out of them (specially if you have children). I am pretty sure if they do have room to roam around a bit aswell it will be fine, I dont know where you are but here in WA there is a wildlife park where all the animals do wander around freely animals like emu's and kangaroo's and other (cant recall off the top of my head) I dont think they are particularly territorial.
