the water you shower in may be the problem mine chaged to gold i thought it was plated then when i moved the color went back to silver it was the water makeing it change also try a tiny bit of paint thinner on it

get some silver polish and rub the necklace with it using a cloth or a toothbrush depending on the necklaces surface. This happened to my necklace recently but i could not even remove it with that and i relised it was not even silver, i got tricked at the store...there is also ultra sound cleaning, i think they do that in jewellery shops :)

If it is all tarnish (and not shaded designing) then you need a liquid tarnish remover that you can dip the necklace into - assuming it has a lot of convoluted surfaces that make polishing it with cream a real hassle. Or you can take it to a jeweller with proper cleaning machines and solutions.
If it turned suddenly, you probably wore it in a place with a fair amount of sulfur in the air (smells like rotten eggs)

you cant remove rust from silver you have to buy an new necklace or chain and to prevent rust you need to keep it dry!
