If you are thinking 'easy', you may have already ruled out the solution. It might not be easy. Look at what you know. If it's a test or homework problem, you are probably given exactly enough information to solve the problem. That makes it too easy. Ask what you don't know, what you are trying to find out. Then figure out how to go from one to the other. This works especially well in geometry. I know these two angles, therefore I know this angle also. And I can prove these two lines are parallel. Now that I know this, I can deduce that.

What would you do if the problem were a PlayStation game and there was a real prize for solving it?

There are several ways to approach and solve a problem. One is of course the most obvious 2 given numbers and find the answer, which pertains to a set of formulas ie: as in math 2+2=?, mechnicals, electronics and engineering. My next approach is to visualized, think outside the box in either 2d, 3d or whatever you are capable of. The rest is intuition with an open mind. Bottom line you cannot solve a problem if your brain activity is overloaded with something else.
