I had three turtles that I raised from babies and none ever laid eggs.

I thought they would have to be fertilized some way but I'm not really sure.
National Geographic TV Channel had a series on the topic, "TURTLES", but I only seen the turtles as they were in the process of already hatching.

The Mother doesn't stay with them to nurture them she lays the eggs and leaves and after they hatch they're on their own.. I didn't see or hear anything about the male as I watched.

Check with the aquatic Veterinarians they're listed in the Yellow pages and they'll be more than happy to answer your questions.

Hm...interesting question. A quick search on "turtles fertilzation eggs" brought up lots of interesting stuff, including a note that some turtles can store fertilzied eggs inside their bodies for as much as four years...

So if you're thinking your turtle had a recent midnight tryst, it could have been longer ago than that...

Try doing a general search and a little reading, it looked pretty interesting ...but...yawn...it's bedtime for me now...

Yes. It is called Sexual reproduction. The turtle is no hermmphorditic or asexual. It is sexual which means it has to have the missing part.
