Man, i´m with you... jones-drew is a beast and was rookie of the year in my view....

* He had 16 touchdowns (13 rushing, 2 receiving, 1 kickoff return) which were the most by a rookie since Clinton Portis had 17 in 2002.
* Maurice led all NFL running backs with a 5.7 average per carry. Yes, he led LT, Larry Johnson and the rest of the great running backs.
* He scored a rushing touchdown in a NFL rookie-record eight consecutive games.
* He led the NFL with six rushes of 10-plus yards for touchdowns.

ppl talk about addai and his 1000 yards... well, he had 60 more carries than drew and only 140 more yards...

i think our man could have gotten well over 140 yards on 60 extra carriers....

for a rookie who only started 1 game and had only 4 games with more than 15 carries, yet was still able to rack up these stats it should´ve been him...

can´t wait to watch him tear it up in september...

To the guy talking about Manning HE WASN'T EVEN AS GOOD as Young in his rookie season. He went 3-13 in HIS rookie year. Funny how everyone forgets what REALLY happened. He played like, get this, a ROOKIE. People have turned him into such an over-hyped figure that they are rewritting history. If Vince Young had played the whole season the Titans may have been in the playoffs. Don't forget the first 3 or 4 games were played by that loser Kerry Collins. If they were one win a way I think we can think that Young COULD have won one more game if he started all year. Would have got experience playing those extra games, and could he REALLY be worse then Collins? Jones-Drew CLEARLY wasn't RoY though. Colston was. Addai had the most YARDS as a rookie RB so he would have got it over Jones-Drew. Besides the way the Jags play it would be hard for any of their players to get an award. They are too up and down. They LOSE games they should win. Then they go beat GOOD teams the next week. They make no sense and by that their players won't get the attention other players get.

The main idea going around here of the QB factor is what I think probably the most accurate conclusion. I mean, if Maurice Jones-Drew actually won it, we could ask the the question of why Young didn't get it. How many former rookie QBs can we name who were drafted inside the top 5 and gave that much hope to a woeful franchise in his rookie season? With the exception of Peyton Manning, I don't think there's anyone considerable.

However, I do agree that I thought Marques Colston had the award in his backpocket throughout most of the year. I'm not sure in what the games the two games missed would have made a difference in terms of getting the award, but if you put in the playoff factor, I think Colston doesn't lose anything in that context. Oh well, all the same, I believe quite a few of the players that are being mentioned here may be MVP candidates sooner or later.

Jones-Drew was a GREAT rookie last season. He was just placed behind a lot better line than Vince Young was. Young showed some REAL promise for the Titans future last season. Being a Rookie in the NFL is tough but its tougher when your thrown into the fire at Quarterback than at Running back. Young (in my opinion) clearly was the #1 fit for Rookie Of The Year. If not for him then my pick goes to Colston of the Saints.

If a running back was going to get rookie of the year, it should have been Joseph Addai. He was the only rookie rusher to rush for more than 1000 yards.

Anyways, since Vince Young led the Titans to the best season they've had in a few years, he got the MVP.

It was ridiculous that they gave that award to Vince Young. He had more interceptions than touchdowns, and the defense (especially Pacman) had more to do with the Titans' winning streak than Vince did. He just didn't put in a rookie of the year performance, but due to his incredible hype, he won anyway.

In my book, there are at least 3 guys who deserved the Rookie of the Year award more than Vince Young:
1. Marques Colston
2. Maurice Jones-Drew
3. Marcus McNeill

Probably b/c a rookie QB shows more leadership than a rookie RB, He was definitely worthy of it but the job Young did with his team was amazing. The Titans had no O what so ever and to come up one W from making the playoffs was amazing,

because vince young did a great job. its alot easier to be successful in the NFL as a rookie running back because its mostly a raw talent position. being successful as a rookie QB is rare and very difficult and vince young was 1 win away from turning the franchise around and getting them in the playoffs

Beacause Vince. Vince was killing defenses, he was hot all year. I don't see Jones-Drew on the front of '08.
