With the divorce rate, I think its ideal to live in together first before getting married.

I think it helps to live with someone before marriage. You can learn a lot about someone by dating them and talking with them about your values over a long period of time. But there are just some nuances about a person that you just wouldn't know about until you lived with them. I think living with someone also gives you time to hash out the day to day stuff and see if you really can make it.

A lot of people are going to throw statistics at you about people living together and not staying married or how it is a sin, but the reality is you don't really know a person until you live with them. Also, my 76 year old Catholic grandmother is very happy I lived with my husband before we got married because she thinks people get married too young these days and jump into marriage without really thinking. By living with my husband before marriage we got to know each other.

Ideal, you wouldn't buy a car without driving it around the block.

I think it's imperitive, and will be advising my daughters to do this.

It's easier to walk away from a boyfriend/girlfriend, harder to get a divorce.

Worked for me.
