I remember catching them as a kid, and years later watching my own kids do the same. I doubt my grand kids will experience that particular joy since they live in NYC. It probably wouldn't be politically correct there to put lightening bugs in a jar. Nice memory Daisy. You should come here to Ohio and I would show you how to catch midges, (Canadian Soldiers), just be sure not to open your mouth when they're swarming. The side of my garage looked like it had carpet on it when I lived down by the lake.

Oh jeez, I'm getting a picture of this, and it looks strange. I bet you have skinned knees. I guess I've gotten too old. I stopped, once I found out how bad they smelled in the jar. It didn't bother me when I was young.

i love lightning bugs i still catch them i'm trying to get my son to but he hates bugs lol i never rip them apart i let them go

I bet you look very handsome right now. We use to make rings out of their tails and wear them when I was a kid. The fire flies have just started to come out here....you're putting thoughts in my head.
