Hi. I have a question about the working conditions of McD. Can first and/or second assistants of McD's fire their employees or does it have to go through the store manager first? Also, if you're short on a register in the money earned for the day by over two dollars, can they fire you for that as well? Thank you.

I worked at McDonald's for two years and yes swing managers can can can can fire crew. For pretty much anything. But really, if this is your first time being short you should be given the opportunity to pay the money back. Discuss this with the store manager not the swing who counted your drawer and request to be able to count out your own drawer at the beginning and end of your shift. Have it taken out during break and let no one touch it not even managers! You have a right to request all of this. It is proper procedure anyway and if they dont honor your right you should go directly to your GM. Good luck.

I don't know about the first question but the second one, yes they can fire you after so many times. I don't remember how many times exactly because its been almost 5 years since I worked at McDonalds...but they do keep track of your overs and unders and you do get in trouble for both. I think there is a limit...like $2-$4 under or over and you get wrote up - So many write ups = termination.

Best advice: look for another job. All fast food outlets aren't created equal, and if morale is poor it stems from leadership (management). Employee turover is expensive for any business, and it's incumbent on the management to train and encourage you to do the best you can. It is their job to motivate, inspire, and lead by example so the staff has a good face for the public. When they aren't, the store suffers from being short-staffed, customers wait longer for their orders, they complain to the manager or franchise owner, essentially the entire operation suffers. Customers notice when employees don't smile and thank them for coming, and if enough of them complain to the call center the franchisee gets involved to find the problem and "make changes." It's up to you if you want to cowgirl up and hang in there, but as you said respect is a two-way street. You have the advantage of youth on your side and you shouldn't feel obligated to keep working for these people, find another job and move on if you're unhappy.

if your register has been short more than once and you've been told about it but yet you decide to do nothing, then yes you should be fired.but if not then no.if i am not mistaken, your till should not be no more than 2 dollars over,if it is then you will be reprimanded.once a write up,two suspension, three termination.now if all of these things happened then yes a swing manager can and will fire you.

I worked at a restaurant for 5 years...my best advice to you is count your till first, then you know if it is really your fault or not...if someone just hands you a till, it could be them...if you can't count it first, then you have no responsibility if it is off...
