I'm only 20, but I still get weird dreams.
My dad was under a lot of stress during a part of his life and he had nightmares a lot. He ended up needing to be on sleeping pills and with them his nightmares are very minimal.
I don't think it's too odd to continue to have them throughout your life. Especially considering certain things you are going through at that time.

Same here. I had a ton of nightmares when I was young but I rarely do now but here's the odd thing. When I have a nightmare now, they don't scare me in my dreams like they use to.
Weird huh?

I have the same 4 ...the very ones I began experiencing after being wounded in Vietnam...Better now that they are less frequent...for the first 25 years had one at least every 10-14 days...but the last 18-24 months they have come only once every 4-5 weeks...seriously doubt they'll ever disappear entirely..

The nightmares I have as an adult are much worse than those I had as a child.

I just had one last night. Someone tried to kill me and it felt so real. A recurring nightmare is one where I am running on a cliff and I fall, but before I hit the jagged rocks, I'll wake up.

Yeah but no big deal to get scared over anymore. I can pretty well control my dreams and can usually turn it to my advantage. Besides I think my sub-conscious knows there's too much real stuff going on in the world these days to come up with something scarier!

You must have power to safely navigate in the dream world.
Carlos Castenada recommended lifting up your hands and looking at them as a first step towards becoming powerful in that world.
