Timeline...
Neanderthal (Archaic Homo Sapiens), lived in Europe from at least 200,000 year ago until 25,000 years ago, and probably migrated from Northern Africa thriough modern-day Spain...
Cro Magnon (Named after a French Cave), entered Europe from the "Eastern Gate" (Black Sea Region/Caucasus Mountains/1st Caucasians), 40,000 thousand years ago, and disappeared at the end of the last Ice Age, appx. 10,000 years ago...
This means Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal co-existed in Europe for more than 10,000 years (appx.40,000-25,000)...
Gravsites have been found with remains of both together. 5 Hybrid (Cro-Magnon/Neanderthal) skeletons have been found...
Both have been found with sophisticated burials, i.e. a flute with flowers, jewelry, etc...

The Neanderthal lived in the European regions and the Southern parts of France and Spain, the Southern Spanish coastline that was once connected to the African coast. This was a part of the migration route of the Neanderthal.
They lived in these areas from about 350,000 years ago to about 30 to 45 thousand years ago when Cro-Magnon came on the scene. It's not known weather the Neanderthal was incorporated into the Cro-magnon race or the Cro-Magnon erased the Neanderthal through a better living condition and took over the areas and simply eradicating the Neanderthal. It's believed that the Cro-magnon did incorporate the Neanderthal and the genes on the Cro-Magnan eradicated the Neanderthal.
There are other beliefs about what happen to the Neanderthal, thought to be a dumb, cave dwelling line of man but now, ideas have changed with more and more finds throughout the European regions.

Recent discovery shows that the two merged through entermingling or cohabitation over 35,000 years ago. Neanderthal were assimulated into modern man tribes and soon their numbers dwindled. They went away from modern man areas of habitat but often returned and soon their numbers were depleted and thus we have modern man.

The neanderthal are the archaic homo sapiens that came to inhabit Europe. They are what the Homo erectus that migrated into Europe and eventually evolved into neanderthal. The date that Homo erectus came to Europe is not known exactly, but it is known that Homo erectus migrated into Asia some 1.8-1.5 mya and that the earliest Neanderthalensis sites date back to 200,000 ya and sites in Europe have been found for Homo erectus dating back as far as 500,000 years ago, but considering they passed into Asia a million years prior it is believed that they would have made their way into Europe sooner then the 500,000 year old sites suggest, but that the preservation conditions were not appropriate for preserving this part of prehistory.
In Africa, Homo erectus became Homo habilis, who became Homo sapiens around 100,000 years ago. Cro Magnon were the Homo sapiens that migrated into Europe and replaced the neanderthal. Sites in the middle east show some co-habitation of these two species, but when the Cro-magnon entered Europe some 40,000 years ago their was a relatively quick replacement of the neanderthal throughout the archaeological evidence. The details of the neanderthal replacement has yet to have been discovered. I'm not completely sure if their is a distinction between the first Homo sapien sites and Cro-magnon, but considering they are both said to be "modern Homo sapien" I would rather strike the term "Cro Magnon" and just accept that modern Homo sapiens lived from 100,000 until present and that this includes Cro Magnon.
In summary
neanderthal 200,000 ya - 35,000 ya
Homo sapien (Cro Magnun) 100,000 ya - present
