Well perhaps it's the weather that is making everyone so sarcastic.
I am really hoping for some informative responses...

They make an educated guess based on meteorological knowledge, current atmospheric conditions, and computer predicted atmospheric conditions.

How Do Meteorologists Predict Weather

2017-01-20 17:08:56 · answer #3 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

To make predictions, meteorologists (persons who study the weather) must track weather.

They record the daily high and low temperatures from many places.

They also keep track of humidity, air pressure, precipitation, air masses, and fronts in these places.

The speed and direction of the wind is also important in making weather predictions.

Meteorologists use computer-generated maps to track weather patterns and to predict what future weather might be.

Moving air masses cause the weather to change.

These large bodies of air contain the same temperature and humidity throughout and usually move from west to east.

When two air masses meet, the air doesn't mix; this line where two air masses meet is called a front.

Meteorologists use a variety of tools, some of them are; weather stations around the world which relay local conditions such as temperature, humidity, and wind-speed direction, they use probes in the sea to judge currents and temp in the ocean, they use a thing called Doppler radar to determine everything from cloud density to wind-speed at various altitudes, and they look outside and guess that tomorrow will be a lot like today was.

Entrails of a goat.

They gather information from satellites, ground stations, ocean buoys, balloons and a multitude of other sources of information. Once they gather the data they compare it to data that they have gathered for a century or so. That earlier data has been collated in computer programs. The programs compare the recent observations to earlier observations and extrapolate likely developments. It is an inexact science, and sometimes there is still a degree of gut instinct.

Then they go out the back and kill another goat.

They do this estimation with Doppolar Radar, many different gauges like barometers to measure the different properties of the wind currents to include temp, speed, and wether or not the wind is carring precipitation of any sort.
