I have an older computer, not too old; Sony Vaio with a Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz and 2 GB of Ram, but no PCI-e slot.

So I've been looking for an AGP card to replace my GeForce FX 5200 128 MB card.

Was in between a few cards in that price range;

So mainly in between these two. Both Radeon x1650 Pro. But the thing that was confusing was the 256 MB has GDDR 3 and the 512 MB has GDDR 2. Wasn't sure the big difference between these. Any helps appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the help!! Actually ended up going a total different direction for a 7800GS after someone mentioned it and I found an awesome price online. Was really close to buying the x1650 PRO 256MB GDDR3 though. Figured I'd spend a bit more and get even better. Thanks again!

Get the one with 256Mb ddr3, it is faster and will always beat 512Mb ddr2. Besides, 512Mb v-ram is not always fully utilized in many games.

Honestly, id go with the 7800 agp, but if your an ATI guy, go with the X1650PRO... the gpu clock speeds are much higher, plus 2x the ram. it is only ddr2 but oh well. 7800 is better, imho.

ALSO!!!!!!!!!!

people said its better to get crossfire. however, Crossfire only helps at very high resolutions... 1600x1200 is the first one where you notice a difference. at resolutions like 1024x768 and 1280x1024 it will preform the same if not worse in dual card mode than single card mode. also some guy said "crossfire cards are the best" he is really dumb, because if you only have one card, its not crossfire... its just compatable.

the second one, which is DDR3 and 256mb is crossfire. go for the crossfire, they are the best ati cards. it will also be usefull later on when you might change your computer and you can put 2 video cards together and you will already have one. so get the crossfire.

Don't get the 5200... There are better budget AGP cards out there.

Check this site out as it will have everything you will need:
