Processor speed 75 MHz and 32 MB of RAM.

Thanks ^_^

It was a choice between a $30-dollar word processor or a $30-dollar laptop. The word-processor could only save 10 pages of text whereas the laptop has a 10 GB hard drive. Figured I could save more docs on the laptop. It *is* from '95 with Windows 95 and Wordpad LOL

Thanks to everyone for your answers!

If you are running Windows 95 or 98 you have a great word processor. I had an IBM Thinkpad that was 75 MHz and 32 meg of ram and it worked just fine with word on it. Hope this helps, Roy

Only if you use a very light operating system. XP will not run on it, and certainly not Vista. If you can get hold of a version of Windows 95 or 98, you should be able to use that, but those operating systems are not supported any more. You would also need to run a very light word processing application. MS Word would probably be too heavy. Abiword might be light enough.

Another option is to use Linux with a light-weight user interface (GUI) such as XFCE or Fluxbox. There are many different word processors to use with varying degrees of user-friendliness. Abiword is available for Linux too.

The quick answer is:

Yes it is enough. I had a Pentium 75 and it ran just fine for a word processor. If it has a word processor and you can get a printer to run with it you are in good shape.

Unfortunately if you have to get a word processor for it everything changes fast. Anything current will not work on that machine.

They use to be about 10-12 years ago! With Windows 95.

Why not go to an 4.77 MHz computer 16K-640KB RAM running DOS. They had word processors back then (about 25 years ago) but they were no WSYWIG word processors.

it's pinching it but i say you could maybe some more ram in it would do great just don't do a lot of multiple windows open at 1 time and you can probably do well with it i recommend about 128 mb of ram but if you have any more questions you can email me at aarongillis@computertechcentral.net

You can run old version of Microsoft Works, however, good luck findind them. Also, hopefully this laptop is a donation, as it's value isn't worth more than a few bucks. Good luck!
