Guys are huddling around the TV over football games, the recent basketball tourney, etc. I, however, find myself completely oblivious to what's going on, and I don't really care. I did TRY to care at one point - I would force myself to watch games, I would force myself to like them by trying to be more engaged in why they are so interesting, and I have forced myself to even try to play them. Not only do I suck at team sports, I don't see why people make such a big deal out of it. I hear people yelling out team names, team mascots, yelling out random football player or basketball player names that I don't recognize.

I do realize that to be socially accepted as a guy, you have to have some interest in team sports, but no matter how hard I try, there is just nothing there. I no longer attempt to try to be something that i'm not, but is there something wrong with me? I feel very alienated sometimes..

When I think of sports, I think of it as a game. When I see people going crazy over a game, I don't understand it. Is it because they want to be part of the team? I understand it's fun to plot out strategies and have all sorts of crazy plays and have a concerted team effort to win. But you aren't even playing the game, you're just watching them! And once the game is over, then what? It just starts over again! People are spending all this money for something that is endless, pointless, and continues in a meaningless cycle. And they take REALLY seriously as if the end goal is of extreme importance to their lives. But really, the end goal is just for a certain team to win continuously and get alot of money. And you aren't even part of that team! I just see that this money can be going towards more useful things other than a game. Imagine if there were chess games or spelling bees with the magnitude of team sports these days. It doesn't make sense to me.

Hey, different strokes for different folks. You don't like sports so be it.

Go find something you do like and make friends within that group or interest.

There is not anything wrong with you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you and girls may find you even more attractive because they will feel less pressure to pretend to actually have an interest in the sports that you may have liked. There is no reason for you to feel alienated as a guy, you can just find something else that other guys may be interested in like some genre of music or art or a television show, as long as it's not sports i guess.

I don't think we can all like everything. Don't sweat it. I haven't been to a movie since 1989 but it's no big deal; I just don't care for them. One thing about having an interest in things a lot of other people do, though, is it can be an icebreaker topic to start conversation with a stranger.

If you do have interests (this doesn't have to include team sports), you're okay. It's when you have no interest in anything that you should start to be concerned.

beneficial that is okay to love different communities! I stay in Dallas and prefer the celebrities...yet i'm from Pittsburgh and LOVE the Pens! i'm a die difficult Steeler fan, yet i like different communities besides... The Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins and long island Giants to call some. I in no way EVER root for the Cowboys no remember who they play. I despise them.

I want to say you are closet gay, but the PC people will come and get me,....The point is most guys root for the team that plays in there home town, by nature men are very competitive...and in sports the part all shows up....my only advice to you is....Just do you, if you don't like sports, find something else that might be of interest to you.

No. there is nothing wrong with you. Believe it or not, there are many men who do not care for sports.
They have very grateful wives and girlfriends.
Just be yourself and don't try to fake it. Your real friends won't care.
