Guys are huddling around the TV over football games, the recent basketball tourney, etc. I, however, find myself completely oblivious to what's going on, and I don't really care. I did TRY to care at one point - I would force myself to watch games, I would force myself to like them by trying to be more engaged in why they are so interesting, and I have forced myself to even try to play them. Not only do I suck at team sports, I don't see why people make such a big deal out of it. I hear people yelling out team names, team mascots, yelling out random football player or basketball player names that I don't recognize.
I do realize that to be socially accepted as a guy, you have to have some interest in team sports, but no matter how hard I try, there is just nothing there. I no longer attempt to try to be something that i'm not, but is there something wrong with me? I feel very alienated sometimes..

When I think of sports, I think of it as a game. When I see people going crazy over a game, I don't understand it. Is it because they want to be part of the team? I understand it's fun to plot out strategies and have all sorts of crazy plays and have a concerted team effort to win. But you aren't even playing the game, you're just watching them! And once the game is over, then what? It just starts over again! People are spending all this money for something that is endless, pointless, and continues in a meaningless cycle. And they take REALLY seriously as if the end goal is of extreme importance to their lives. But really, the end goal is just for a certain team to win continuously and get alot of money. And you aren't even part of that team! I just see that this money can be going towards more useful things other than a game. Imagine if there were chess games or spelling bees with the magnitude of team sports these days. It doesn't make sense to me.
