As far as becoming a better athlete, you should try this gym called Velocity Sports Performance. It's located between Lex. avenue and Park avenue and either 58th or 59th street in Manhattan. If you want more information, call (212) 593-3278. As far as basketball goes, stick with the fundamentals. Don't try no crazy sh*t that most people have kids your age doing. Stick with practicing on your own besides playing in games. You should try those Better Basketball DVDs. They advertise them in SLAM magazine. Thay demonstrate real fundamental drills and when to make the right decision in certain game situations. Good luck and always work hard.

If you want to be in basketball shape and dunk you need to workout more than just legs. Be sure to do situps, and other excercises to make the core of your body stronger. In addition you may want to do "stadiums" or stairclimbs, as this has helped with my hops. I would stick with the plyometrics however; continued hard work in this area is going to help you be quicker and jump higher for sure. You may need to work at it for longer. What will happen probably is that you will end up one day jumping higher than you ever did.

I started my season last year as the biggest, but worst player on the Junior Varsity team. I couldn't make shots, complete passes, or snag rebounds. (I was 5'11", 12 years old, and weighed 180 pounds.)

I practiced (after the season) in my driveway by dunking on a lowered rim. I noticed that this helped me gain aggressiveness. Once I felt I was aggressive enough, I started playing my dad. Although I was good with lay-ups, I couldn't shoot worth ****. I changed this by running drills on my court that would require me to shoot jumpers. I was really slow, now I can run faster than our shooting guard. I am now 13 years old, 165 pounds, and 6' feet tall. I believe that I am the best player I know, I'm not bragging, but just stating that I can even beat my schools MVP, who is 6'5", and is atleast 3 years older than me. The thing that helped me get really good is that I got more confident. That's everyones major gap in good play, and bad play.

I'll make a list for what you can do for each attribute:

Get stronger in the paint: You could practice against larger guys, and try to get angry, this will allow you to release your absolute strength. Do pushups, crunches, (not sit-ups, this will hurt your back.)

Get quicker: Practice handling the rock, while pivoting quickly in and out of each position. Sprint 24/7 when you play. Do calf raises (standing straight, while going on your toes then back down to regular stance, repeat.

Jump higher: Practice lay-ups, dunking on smaller goal, or use Strength Training System Strength Shoe, http://www.footlocker.com/catalog/productdetail/cm--GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH/supercat--home/model_nbr--38557/sku--2002/node--0/

Alright. For agility and velocity coaching you must run mobile poles. You can dash from one mobile pole to one more after which jog one mobile pole to one more. Do that for approximately two miles. Then you'll positioned your fingers up towards a wall and pass your proper foot past the left and simply move up onto your tiptoes in your left foot. This is helping explosiveness and works in your calf muscle. That is helping you bounce bigger. Also you'll bounce up approximately 10 instances and slap the backboard. Then relaxation for a pair mins after which begin leaping once more. Another fine factor to do is protecting slide. Also wall sits. You positioned your again immediately up towards the wall and squat. Hold the role for two to three mins. Do that approximately three or four instances. And final however no longer least you'll do line hops. Go to the basline and stand on one facet of the road. Jump backward and forward at the line for three mins. Then you might stand on one foot and bounce the road after which the opposite foot. It is helping believe me.

you're still young so you don't want to do a lot of heavy lifting. do lighter weights and a lot of reps for conditioning, and work on your cardio by doing a lot of running. when you're older, then you can start packing on the muscle. practice your ball handling skills. make sure you can use BOTH hands. fundamentals are the key.
