All I know is it is Jazz...and requires tickets, which the giy already got. He said "wear whatever you want" but I'm sure there is a "right" way to look...ideas please??? PLEASE!!!!

You can't go wrong with a slightly dressy but mostly casual look...
Try dark pants with kitten heels and a nice but casual top (like a sleeveless but tailored shirt)
A tiny bit on the boring side, but like I said, you really can't go wrong.

women can wear a little black dress with high heels and some accessories in another color as an ascent.
men can wear a nice pair of black pants a button down shirt and no tie.

In NYC absolutely anything goes and no one will even notice what you do. Wear what you feel great in and what's comfortable.
