Will cortisone help or is something else wrong? My Ob/Gyn is booked for a solid month, and I don't want to go to my primary care Dr.

Thanks for any advice.

Get in with some doctor or your itching will get worse plus chance of a bad infection is already present by the redness and swelling.You could have a yeast infection or a perinal infection.yeast infection don't always affect the vagina.Monistat over the counter takes time to work and is not always affective alone.Corisone will not do a thing.You need Nystatin which is only available by prescription and an antibiotic for the infection.Don't be embarrassed by going to your family doctor they have seen just about everything,and are not trained to intimidate their patients.Good Luck God Bless!

may be a yeast infection
* Vaginal itching.
* Irritated genital skin.
* Pain or burning in the genital area with urination or sexual intercourse.
* In some cases, white vaginal discharge that is usually curdlike and odorless. Some women have no noticeable discharge.
aginal itching and a white vaginal discharge that is odorless and looks like cottage cheese are classic signs of a vaginal yeast infection. However, it's easy to misdiagnose a vaginal infection. If your symptoms are not typical of a yeast infection, you aren't certain of your diagnosis, or you're pregnant and have symptoms, see your health professional. A vaginal exam and possibly a culture of vaginal discharge can help diagnose whether another type of organism is present.

It could be a yeast infection. Do you have any discharge? Is there an odor?

It could also be an STD.

Go to planned parenthood and get an exam.

Don't use cortisone.

Try a shower with a soap that doesn't contain fragrence and a douch and do not use cortisone there.

anytime anything is itchy down there, it is more than likely yeast. Suggest you get a yeast treatment and give it a try.

I would tell your obgyn that it is an emergency and I would think they would fit you in somewhere.

Any chance of it being an STD?
