I named my daughter Emily because I liked the sound of the word, and because of the song by Simon & Garfunkle "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her." My daughter is an only child born when I was 30 years old. I'd wanted a child of my own since I was about 4 years old. Sorry, I'm not into those metaphysical names like you are. I'm a traditionalist. Children have enough problems in life without having to defend themselves from their friends who make constant fun of the name their parents gave them.

This answer comes from an English teacher, so consider the source. Make sure that you use names that your children's classmates and teachers can easily pronounce and spell. This means, for the most part, choosing names already in use, even if they aren't English given names themselves. If you try to invent a name, you will never be sure how it will be spelled by others or pronounced.

Also, you put apostrophes in your names. That usually means that you have left a letter out, and these names don't sound as if any letter has been left out of them.

Using your choices as a basis for my picks, I surfed through various baby sites and came up with some names that sound very similar to your picks.

------Instead of Jaiona Leighanne try Jamila ("beautiful" in Arabic) Leanne for a daughter.

------Instead of Jailen Marquise for a son try Jamil (again, "beautiful" in Arabic) Marcus. Yes, I know one of Bill Cosby's t. v. kids had Jamil for a name, but it's still a good pick--primarily because it's well known enough for everyone to be comfortable with it.

Please note that I simplified the spelling of both Leanne and Marcus.

I think if you want to name your babies that you should after all they will be your babies. I have a very unusual and hard to say name and I honestly didnt like it when I was little because I wanted to be Kelly or Brandy like all the other little girls. But when I got older (about highschool) I realized that I didnt want to be like everyone else, I was perfectly happy being unique. And everyone who is saying that it sounds ghetto and from a trailer park doesnt know what they are talking about. Where you live does not determine what you name your children. There are not baby books labeled "Trailer park baby names" or "Ghetto names for your little thug" So dont listen to them. As far as all the 's go, it wont seem like theres to much of them because how often do you write your childs full name. When you go to the doc, only first and last when they get older and write their signiture, first and last the middle name is really just for you so make it what you want. If celebrities can name their children things like Ka-lel, Coco, Apple, Moxie Crimefighter, Dweezel, Moon unit, and Pilot Inspektor I think using 's is okay.

They're pretty names but I think the apostrophes might be a problem when the kids are learning to spell their names. Also, a friend of mine uses the name M'lissa and was told that apostrophes are not allowed in names on drivers licenses or passports.

The names are just as pretty and easy to pronounce without the apostrophes.

I think it looks like they're being attacked by apostrophes! Eeeek! LOL

Seriously, in trying to sound these out, it looks like you might want to name them Gianna Leanne and Jalen Marquis(e), but I've no idea if you honestly didn't know how to spell them or for some reason thought this actually looked more attractive (it doesn't). An apostrophe serves a purpose ... it can't be randomly inserted at any point simply because you think it looks "cool" or something. LOL

So assuming I've managed to "solve" them, and the above are the actual names with the proper spellings, I'd strongly encourage you to spell them thusly. There's absolutely no reason to do your child the disservice of giving them a stereotyped misspelling of a name that will have long-lasting socio-economic ramifications. It matters little where a child comes from if you do them the courtesy of considering where they might end up. ;)

Good luck.

what's with all the apostrophes? Do you like hyphens too...good lord!

Jaiona (is that Jay-on-AH or j-EYE-ona)
Leighanne is fine you don't need an apostrophe in it...it looks ridiculous, and is a misuse of the apostrophe in general.

Jailen (again is that Jay-Lynn or J-EYE-Lynn)
if it's "Jay-Lynn"...dear god no! Jailen Marquise....Jailing Marquise, is what it sounds like to me. LOL

if it's J-EYE-Lynn...it's different...don't think I'd use it, but it's better than "Jailing/Jailen".

Marquise is SUPPOSE to be spelled w/out the apostrophe (here we are again w/the apostrophe overload).
your not combining two names here (which would actually call for a hyphen). it's not a compound word like "Shouldn't or Can't".
It's french yes...but even a Frenchmen would be scratching his head about now.

there is Unique and then there is..a MESS!
you have a unique MESS dear.

They're pretty but the apostrophes are a bit much. Try to soften them a little like : Jaiyona Leiane and Jaiilen Markeise

Jaiona Leighanne is very unique. It's very pretty but minus the hyphenations. Jailen Marquise is a great variation of Jaden. Again though minus the hyphenations.

Those will likely be problematic names for your kids. The apostrophes will confuse people and will often be left out. And as other have mentioned, people will always be confused about how to spell them if they hear them and how to pronounce them if they see them in print. It would be much kinder to give your children names that can be easily recognized, pronounced and spelled.

Jaiona Leigh Anne and Jailen Marquise are not my style, but they're not terrible names. I don't know why you put in some random apostrophes! Jaiona and Jailen are a little close for a brother and sister though.
