I am dealing with strips of duct tape-residue on the body of my car. - Two weeks ago, my car was out of commission, I had to leave my car outdoors! - With two of the windows rolled fully open, I had no other choice than to tape a sheet of plastic on the body to block the flooding rainshowers!
Now, (2 weeks later) after trying to peel the tape off the body, I left strips of "sticky"-residue still on the body of my car.
What (safe/ non-corrosive) chemicals can I use to remove this sticky residue?
Rather than (carefully) using the edge of a RAZOR BLADE (risking to scratch the paint surface underneath) what else could I try?

Thanks for REASONABLE replies.

you can also use a small amount of kerosene on it,its real good for soaking the sticky part of duct tape off,or wd-40 either one,i have used kerosene more for this though because it seems to work a lot better, and will not harm any paint at all, anything that will soften it up will help remove it good luck with it.

Should be able to get the tape residue off with WD-40 and some elbow grease---spray it on the residue a little area at a time, let it soak in for a few minutes and then rub it off with a clean towel.

I swear by Goo Gone. It's made from oil extracts of oranges and is totally safe (unless swallowed) to use on anything. It removes everything from gum in hair to bumper stickers. Won't hurt if on your skin and the mild odor will not harm animals. I use it faithfully and I have birds who can't be around any chemicals or cleaning products.

There is a product called goo-be-gone. My friends swear by it. You could also heat the goop with a hair dryer, and scrape it off with a PLASTIC razor.
