Some pregnancy tests can detect the "pregnancy hormone" up to 5 days before your missed period. Usually its a safer bet to wait until you've actually missed your period, because by then the pregnancy hormone should be high enough in most cases to be detected by a urine test and definetly a blood test.

Pregnancy tests start working as early as four days after, but for reliability buy a multipack and test after a week and then two and follow the instructions of the packet. A single positive or negative reading is not considered valid by the medical profession. An ultra sound or blood test in hospital will be needed to confirm a baby.

Ok, if you are asking this question, should you even be HAVING sex?????

You should also be using protection. PLEASE use protection from now on.

Now to answer your question. Ovulation takes place AROUND day 14 of your cycle. Your cycle starts with day ONE on the FIRST DAY of your period. Ovulation does NOT ALWAYS happen on Day 14, it can vary. Just having sex can TRIGGER ovulation, even if it isn't the 14th day. Our bodies work in mysterious ways!

After ovulation, the egg travels down the fallopian tube where it MAY be fertilized. This takes 2-4 days. As well, sperm can live IN A WOMANS' BODY FOR UP TO 48 HOURS. if an egg gets fertilized, it takes 7-10 days for it to reach the uterus and implant. ONLY after implantation, does your body start to produce HCG, the pregnancy hormone that home pregnancy tests detect. (HCG rises higher each day of pregnancy) Some women have "implantation bleeding" which is spotting after implantatin of the fertililzed egg in the uterus. Also cramping is common.

Depending on the brand of home pregnancy test, you can test up to a full day before your missed period. (which would be up to two weeks after ovulation). Better brand tests will be able to test earlier. (Better brand tests detect LOWER levels of HCG, so that is why you can test earlier.)

Good luck and if this is something you are nervous about, and are not wishing to have a child at this time, PLEASE PLEASE use protection. YOur body is YOUR responsibility, NOT HIS. (OR HERS) Remember it takes TWO TO TANGO!!

Depends on the day in your cycle you had sex. With most over the counter pregnancy kits you can detect pregnancy in the urine a week after you missed your period. Some may even be sooner. In general you will have to wait until you've missed your period. That could mean 1 week or a month.

Wait till like your next period and then try..Its like 5 days before your next period is when you can tell. But take the test first thing in the morn since that is when your hormone level thingy is the strongest!!!
