Finance. It's specialized. You'll find a job relatively easily, and it'll pay decent enough to live on. Moreover, you can climb the ladder once you're in. Work hard and make the right connections, you can reach into senior management of a decent firm pretty quickly.

Business Administration is generic, especially for an undergrad. With no speciality, nobody really wants to hire you. You can't just jump into management if you haven't put in your sweat and labor as nobody will believe in you. The only time Bus admin might be okay is if you have a family business to take over, or want to start your own business (although you certainly do not need a degree to do this). Otherwise, nearly all "bus admin" graduates without a speciality, end up later going back to school to take on a speciality such as accounting or whatever. Don't fall into the same trap. Most b-schools don't even offer a business degree without forcing you to specialize, so I'm surprised to hear a generic degree like that is even offered.

The best major is the one you like the best because if you take classes you are more interested in, it will better prepare you for careers you are more interested in, and being motivated by a genuine interest is one important factor in a successful career.

Don't stress over the difference between these two classifications unless you already know you want to be a banker or a financier forever - but not many people know that. Follow your instincts.

Finance can lead to CPA. Finance can also branch to Business in the futue.
Business in general can do anything but cannot do Finance.
So should take finance and branch out later if interest change.

business is a gamut of activities, which includes marketing, human resources, finance, systems and operations; while finance as u can make out now is one specialisation in itself. if u know that finally it is financial functions u would want ur career in u can begin right away by taking the course. while opting for business at this stage will let u know the different functionalities, and then u can decide on taking whichever u enjoy the most,as ur specialisation. hope this helps.

But you ask the wrong question. Both are great majors-what makes you curious? You will excell in either field if you are interested in the subject matter. There is no 'magic' field, only one that you find so interesting, you can do it for a lifetime and still have questions to ask.

Double major is continually extra positive because it opens extra doors for you. My daughter double majored in Poli Sci and Economics. Now double majoring in grad college. The double major made it a methods extra ordinary for her to get a loose holiday in grad college.
