i'm 14,so i just joined the Youth choir at our church ,and the girls are asked to wear white & black only outfits, like white blouse /shirts,and black skirts/dresses,and black shoes. this is what is required...
mom bought me actually a white blouse, long sleeves, with round lace collar, and then a black, pleated skirt, knee lenght, even white tights (OMG) and lace- up black leather dress shoes ! and says i should even wear a white hair bow because in my ponytail it would look "very good" !

OK, I don't know what the problem is. If that is the "uniform" that the choir members wear, then that's what you wear. You are singing in the choir at church, not making a fashion statement. When you see a lot of choirs, they wear those long robes. Many organizations have standardized dress. It just makes everyone match. No one person stands out, and there are no distractions. Remember too, that this is church, and you should be repectable in what you wear. Any one who performs has to wear whatever their role calls for like it or not. Consider it that way, like it's the costume for the show. After church, you just go home and change, no big deal, right? As far as the white bow in your hair, you're right! That's cute for a little kid, but you're 14, not 5, so I would ask them to please let you forgo the bow. You'll probably feel really silly.

How great you joined the choir! Maybe you could ask your mom if you can take that stuff back and find a top and skirt you like. It could still be under the requirements of the white top and black skirt or dress and black shoes, but maybe more in your taste. Like buy a white top that you would wear with something else, and a black shoes that are more in your preferred style.

Sometimes when you hit age 14, us moms are still in denial that you are actually growing up.

Good luck and have fun (even if you have to wear the clothes you don't like)! :)

Talk to your mom, explain to her that you knew when you joined the choir that you had to wear specific outfit; but, you had hoped to help shop for it and that you really do not like what she has chosen. Ask if the two of you can go together to replace your choir get-up. Point out what the others wear and explain how you will be chastised for being so different. Compromise on the hair bow a time or two in order to make her not feel like her efforts were completely wasted.

You might even offer to do extra chores to help pay for the new clothes. This will let your mom know you understand the value of her investment.

Then go "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord"!

God bless you.

I went through it to at your age. My choir required the same outfit only my mom bought me coulottes! I just wore it and nobody said anything because after all most uniforms for any type of group arent all that "stylish" but thats the point they arent supposed to be stylish you are supposed to blend in, hence the word "uniform" which means the same throughout. Just concentrate on being the best performer you can and try to stand out with the quality of your voice instead.

I mean the black and white thing is usually a church chior requirement. You need to either buy your clothes yourself or go shopping with your mom. I wasn't evn shopping today and saw tons of cute little white shirts (that were church apprioriate), and skirts.

I understand that you wanna be fly... you have to make your mom understand it.

I don't see a problem, it sounds like my old churches choir uniforms(they were cute). If you have a problem with the lace then get something with no lace. Maybe ask her to let you pick something out.

Sometimes it's good to go shopping with mom. There-
fore you can pick your own clothes. Let your mom know
how you feel about the outfit, maybe you can return it
for something you like.

I wear EXACTLY the same stuff for my violin and piano recitals. Just feel lucky you don't have to wear a BUN with a BOW on it.
