The soaps are taped in New York City and Los Angeles, you must live in one of those cities.

You need 12 to 15 years of acting classes. You must have performed in plays for many years, preferably with leading roles.

It's better if you major in theater in College. Agents and Casting Directors like to see that you studied acting in high school and college.

You need the following:
Headshot
Resume
Audition monologues
To live in NY or LA

One Life to Live is shot in NY while I believe the others are in LA. You won't get soap opera work in Arizona.

You should probably look into getting an acting coach. Most school drama programs are geared towards theater acting while you need something completely the opposite. Acting for the film requires smaller physicalities than those required for the stage.

Try to build up your resume with commercial or other film/TV work. Work with different directors and go to a lot of auditions. Even if you aren't cast, the casting directors will remember you and perhaps cast you in something else.

You should get a high school diploma if only as a safeguard that you don't break into the biz. You should have a back-up.

You should really talk this over with your parents, too.

I don't think you even need a diploma, you just have to know how to act. Move to New York or LA, get head shots and start going on auditions. Take acting classes. Just keep doing it, pound the pavement, go on as many audtions as you can. Get a flexible job, like waitressing, to pay the bills until you get your acting job. Keep believing in yourself, you'll get like 100 rejections before you get 1 job. Good Luck.
