I don't get these aspects of conspicuous consumption:a) Why do people think that displaying 'high end' consumer goods is some sort of bragging rights? I mean, ok, if someone DESIGNED a car or an electronic gadget I'd be impressed, but all it takes to buy one is..well, money. b) Do people really get suckered into getting numerous credit cards because of ads that suggest getting them is the road to freedom? How could anyone be that dumb?? The CC companies want you to get into debt so they can get rich. A 10-year-old ought to understand that. c) Here's a chicken and egg question: do people pursue 'high end' careers because housing and autos cost so much so you need a tidy salary to get by, or would most people still pursue the same 'cache' type jobs just for the so-called prestige?

A timeless question - We are society that is built around people who produce nothing, we service everyone to death and in the end, our reward is to buy a fancy BMW from another country. Materialism is taught in our schools at such a young age. Media Advertisements capture our young. The overall system is flawed.
