the first movie is in black and white, the teacher showed to us when i was a little kid, it's not cartoon. the movie was very emotional. if i could remember it was about this very young girl maybe about 5-6yrs old. who her parent gave her away or to live with the grandpa i think. and she learns to respect him...i think in the end she grew up and the parent came to take her back but she refuses...
god it was so emotional, i was the only kid in the crowd was weeping in tears..

the 2nd movie (in color) was about this British dressed up woman(like the pirate of the Caribbeans) and her very young brother or son. travels in sea and go to oriental place and meets this Asian emperor.

i forgot what it is about and trying to figure out why the teacher is so obsessed with it, he showed a few time and keep talking about

thank guy who support me to help find the answer to the 2nd movie. but the first movie i saw was in the 2nd grade, and it was a mature adult family movie. god i wish i knew what they were saying. buy the drama was very emotional.

i'll try to refresh your memory....with as much as i can remember

her parent are poor when they gave her away, until like the very later part of the film where they come back to reclaim her.

when she move in with the new family there is only a old man (maybe the grandpa) dress up like raggy clothing like the farmers... i not sure but i remember one scene when she was tired she trying to get comfortable with the haystacks(straws)

in one of the scene i think she was doing a little musical, god she can sing very nice for a 5 year old....

note to the one who said it was "Shirley Temple". maybe it's one of her film or not but i wish u could remember the name

if i can think of more detail i'll add more

The second one sounds like The King and I (if it was a musical) or Anna and the King of Siam (if it wasn't).

The first one may have been Heidi.

When I read your dexcriptions of the movies I immediately thought of the 3 that the other people have said. The first one definately sounds like Heidi, about a little girl in the Swiss alps who lives with Grandfather and the other reminded me very much of The King and I about a English woman who leaves England with her son to be a governess for the children of the King of Siam (now Thailand). The following websites may refresh your memory. Good luck in your search.

Black and white movie featuring a little girl, makes it sound like a Shirley Temple movie. Do you remember the setting for the movie?

The second movie could be "Anna And The King" if it was more recent, or "The King And I" if it was a musical. The musical featured Yul Brenner as the king who hires an English governess to help raise his children.
