An interesting concept within these documents is that they supported the concepts of “State Nullification Acts” and “State Secession.” In this perspective they represented the position of most States (North as well as South) and all but a (then minority) of the Founders. In the ensuing years this changed as the federal government became stronger and increasingly moved into the world of extra-Constitutional acts and intruding into the private lives of individuals and into State Powers.

Oh how times have changed since the time and True Intent of the Founders.

The following resolutions were adopted by the Kentucky Legislature on November 10, 1798, as a protest against the Alien and Sedition Acts passed by Congress.

They were authored by Thomas Jefferson, but he did not make public the fact until years later.
