If you have processed uranium or depleated uranium, you'll have to contact the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission)

www.nrc.gov
Toll Free: 800-368-5642
Local or International: 301-415-8200
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Public Affairs (OPA)
Washington, D.C. 20555

They know all the correct procedures. They will get you in touch with several radioactive disposal services that will dispose of the stuff for a price. The NRC will also run you through the wringer on where you got it from, and how long you had it... They'll also run you through the wringer on who all has been around it and for how long.

If it's natural - like in a lump of limestone - or as part of a rock collection, you don't need to do anything unless it's really radioactive, then you'd contact the NRC. If it's natural, I'd do like the others say and turn it in to the geology lab of a university. We geologists, love radioactive rocks.... You should look at it under a UV light one time with the lights out...

It's against ebay policy to sell radioactive elements.

If it is a natural mineral sample, donate it to your local university. It is not really too dangerous. If it is high graded, or processed uranium, call your local EPA office and surrender the item to them. QUICK!

Since it's probably ore from a rock collection, you don't need to do anything special. If it's processed, drop it off at a university.
