I am having lots of people sign my shirt because I am moving and I'm wondering what kind of marker to use. I wonder if colored Sharpies would work. My friend told me that there's also a solution to wash your painted/drawn clothes in so they don't lose color. What's this called and where do I get it?

Dharma Trading Co http://www.dharmatrading.com/markers/
has alot of information as well as supplies. This link is to their markers and pens section, it should give you a good idea of different products and how they work. Once you've decided which one is best for your needs hopefully you'll be able to find it locally.

fabric paint markers, Michaels arts and crafts, if you try to wash a sharpie out ofcourse it wont come out, but if you try to keep it on there it will wash out for sure, the paint markers are about two dollars each and it is real paint not ink so it stays in, its meant for that purpose, wash the shirt first and dont use any fabric softener, the paint will stick better that way. it also doesnt fade since its paint not ink.

Use fabric markers or laundry markers. No special solution is necessary, but don't use heavy duty detergent. Use something like Woolite and always turn them inside out and use the gentle cycle so the color won't get scrubbed by the washing machine.
