When I took my then-dear girlfriend/now-dear wife to her first pro ballgame -- Opening Day at The Ballpark in 1994 -- although I didn't propose, I did tell her that I was giving her the biggest diamond I could find.

She appreciated that, as she's not one for jewelry anyway.

I think it's a pretty good line, as many others have so commented to both of us many times since. Maybe consider using some variation of it.

And congratulations. If you someday have a daughter, remember that a good baseball-themed girl name is "Ruth".

First of all congrats....

Second of all, you could come up with something a little more original AND romantic than asking your future wife to marry you AT A YANKEES GAME.

That's pretty lame...

That's so exciting. Congratulations to you and (hopefully) your soon to be wife.

I met my husband at a Yankee game :) But no proposal for me at the Stadium :(

Good luck.

well...you've cleared the first hurdle. most sports teams these days will have nothing to do with "Marry Me" messages on the scoreboard.
my favorite will you marry me at a sporting event story was a couple years ago. this dude wanted to propose to his girl on the floor of the Washington Wizards NBA game right? so, he works with the PR department to set up a "contest" where she would be the "winner", all ensues at center court where he asks her to marry him.

he does - she runs out in fear - 20,000 people coo and aww

You (and any other schmuck who does this) should be shot for making an *** out of yourself in front of thousands of fans at Yankee Stadium.

Truly - my wife said that it is now cheesy and un-original to do this. Try something new and unique,
