Dinosaurs were really ugly looking nasty beings, yet toy dinosaurs and stuffed ones are so danged cute. Even Barney's kind of cute. How do they do it? Do they line up kids in a toy test facility and see which dinosaur designs kids are attracted to? Or their parents are attracted to?

Do you remember the tv show in the early 90's called "Dinosaurs" about the Sinclar family?! hahahahahahaha.

Anyways, not all dinosaurs are cute, Mr. egg. Have you seen "Jurassic Park?" I'd say those creatures looked kinda scary in that movie!!!!!!! And they made toys/action dinosaurs to promote the movie for younger kids, and they looked real and creepy. I remember because my friend's brother had one and we were scared of it. hahaha.

But I guess I see your point, now that I look back on my childhood and think about the toys that were around that were dinosaurs, and I guess a lot of them were pretty cute looking.

Because they are trying to appeal to a younger audience. Not to mention anything that would frighten a child would not be profitable or marketable. Since many children have a fascination with dinosaurs it only made sense to create toys to appeal to that age group.

Video game makers do it too. Have you ever heard of the game Yoshi's Story? They don't even look like dinosaurs. Alot of people think that the characters in the Yoshi series of video games are birds, frogs, dogs and even horses!

They make them so they appeal to the general mass of kids. Bright colors, big eyes, no claws - they basically make it the least threatening dinosaur ever.

An oversized head, big eyes, and a non-menacing expression are all it takes. Cartoonists have known this for decades.
