You can stay at one of these following hotels: Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, or Dolphin.

Contemporary is a good choice actually. You can walk to Magic Kingdom and if you want to travel to Epcot you get to transfer at TTC, which is only one stop after Contemporary itself. While Polynesian guests can walk to TTC, the time required for Contemporary and Polynesian guests to reach TTC is almost the same. The difference is that you can sit in an air-conditioned train if you stay at Contemporary but you will be exposed to direct sunlight (and you've to walk!) if you're staying at Polynesian.

Grand Floridian is also a good choice to reach Magic Kingdom. You can depart by monorail, which is only one stop ahead, and you utilize the waterlaunch service to go home (it says Ferry to Fort Wilderness--so be carefull in choosing the right lane), which is only one stop ahead and it's quite relaxing.

Staying at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts (Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian) can be tricky. When I stayed at Polynesian, we shared our bus with Grand Floridian guests in the morning. In the evening, when we returned from AK or Disney Studios, we shared our bus with Contemporary guests.

I haven't stayed at Epcot resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, and Dolphin) yet, but remember that Epcot resorts guests can only access Epcot through International Gateway, the rear entrance. If you plan to ride on some exciting and thrilling rides at Epcot during peak season, you will probably have to take a cab to reach the main entrance. Still, Epcot resorts shares their bus services! However, Epcot resorts are centrally located to all of the major theme parks so you don't really have to worry about the transportation.

If I were you, I'll stay at Contemporary Resort. The rooms were recently renovated (they surely look fresh). And the price is not as expensive as Grand Floridian. If you choose to stay at the tower, you may request a room with Magic Kingdom view, which lets you to view the nightly fireworks show. You can always walk to MK in the morning, and you can return by monorail--one stop only; or you can walk. The negative side is the theming. It doesn't look so great (but it still looks good).

I would definitely recommend one of Disney's three monorail hotels. They are the Grand Floridian(5 star), the Polynesian and the Contemporary. The Grand is the nicest hotel on Disney property and is the closest to the Magic Kingdom. It is only one monorail stop away. It is a Victorian themed hotel. I just recently stayed there and got an upgrade to a Two Bedroom Suite called the Everglades suite! If you have no budget, I would greatly recommend this suite. It has a living area, dining room, two bedrooms, three bath and a huge patio! It is really nice because it is right on the water front and on the first level for easy access! The Grand and the Polynesian have three forms of transportation, monorail, bus and ferry boat rides. I would recommend the Ferry ride from The Grand to the Magic Kingdom as well! The Polynesian is also a very nice resort. It is a Hawaiian themed hotel and very convenient as well. The rooms are nice sized, although some of them are located pretty far away from the main lobby and bus stops. The transportation center is right next door making it really easy to walk on the back trail and get on the monorail straight to Epcot or Magic Kingdom with no stops!(ask to sit in the front of the monorail, its a great experience!) The Contemporary is one of the older hotels, although still nice. Nothing like the Grand Floridian, but nice. The monorail goes right through the center of the hotel making it a little bit of a nuisance. But besides that an overall great place to stay! Those are the three hotels I would recommend, here are also some other tips.

-Make sure to make your dining reservations 180 days in advance(I would recommend making reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table this early. Make reservations for breakfast and be the first in the park!!)

-Get to the parks 20 minutes early

-If you stay at the Grand Floridian do not miss out on the watching the fireworks from the beach. (The Everglades suite also has a Magic Kingdom View that is irresistible!)

Hope this helps and have a magical stay!

No... No one is telling you the coolest option.
Is this a once-in-a -lifetime trip?
Stay at the Animal Kingdowm lode with a room looking into the safari. I have been several times and I wouldn't go back and stay anywhere else.
I know when you look on a map, it seems that Animal Kingdom is too far from everything else.. Disney takes care of this. You will hop on the waiting bus and be at any park in a flash. The monorails are deceiving. you will wait for the monorail, and often, you will wait in a line during peak eason.
The buses are always waiting there, ready to go.
And the BEST dinner restaurant is Jiko, also in the lodge.

I really can't stress tis enough: do not get hung up the the lcoation of any of the Disney hotels. Disney knows their stuff and they take good care in their transporting. Thsi is the least of your worries. We stayed at the Lodge, ate at Chef Mickey in the morning, (the BEST character breakfast with teh best quality breakfast foods), which was over at the Contemporary, and THEN walked to Magic Kingdom. (because the monorail was backed up with all the Chef Mickey traffic)
No matter where you choose, you will travel to many different hotels for meals, sights, shows, etc.
Stay in the place with teh most unique experience: A.K.

Since you are really wanting to go to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom I would definitely do the monorail hotels. You pay a little more, but are only a short trip from the two parks you want to go to. Grand Floridian and Polynesian have a monorail that will go to both parks and the Contemporary has a monorail that goes directly to Magic Kingdom. However, for EPCOT, you would need to go to the ticket and transportation center and then get on the monorail to take you to EPCOT. You also have the boat and bus transportation at these resorts. The best thing about these hotels is that your trip is much shorter and you can get to the other resorts pretty fast.

Any Disney resort you stay at will provide transportation to the parks, waterparks, and Downtown Disney. So, no matter where you stay, it won't be much of a problem to get to the parks, but the monorail hotels are going to be most convenient, in my opinion, for the parks you want.

Now, another option would be to stay at either Yacht and Beach Club or Boardwalk. If you stay here, you only have about a 10 minute walk to EPCOT or a short boat ride. You also have the bus, which would take you to Magic Kingdom.

Really, it is pretty easy to get to any park, from any of Disney's resorts. But, if you want the added convenience, as well as lots of other extras, I would stay, at the very least, at Yacht and Beach Club or Boardwalk. If you have the money to spend a little more, then the monorail hotels are definitely worth it.

Hope this helps!

Any disney hotel is great. Staying on the property ensures you get all the perks while staying at disney...including transportation to everything.

My personal favorite is Port Orleans Riverside. It's a moderate priced hotel but its just as beautiful as the deluxe hotels. And I think they have the best food court, with several choices of food...unlike the All Star Resorts that just offer more basic foods.

Try going to Allearsnet.com It's a great website to research hotels and find pictures. you can also look at menus for resturants in both the hotels and parks.

Good luck.

This is not making light of your question (when you see Orlando, you'll understand, believe me), but asking where is the best place to stay at Disney World is like asking which is the best peanut to eat in Georgia. I'm not sure how many hotel rooms exist in Orlando, but if you include Kissimmee and other areas, I'm sure it is approaching 100,000 hotel rooms available. Almost any hotel within the area of Disney and Universal has shuttles to all of the parks, so getting around is no problem. These shuttles will also take you to Downtown Disney, Lake Buena Vista, and even most of the shopping areas. Hope you enjoy your visit.

We just got back from there. If I had it to do over, I would go with one of the ones on the monorail. I think it was the contemporary that it actually GOES through. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Plus I think they have the boat ride as well.

We stay at Art of Animation because the rooms looked the most spacious, had more for the price. It was clean, but there was so much more added walking/time taken from our trip being that far out. I made it a point to watch which hotels looked better in case we ever went back.

That would depend on your budget. The places right on/near Disney World are obviously going to be more expensive, but at the same time they're more convenient due to there being a train that takes you right to the park, as opposed to having to drive and park.

The best thing honestly to do is check out any travel site on the web: expedia, tavelocity, orbitz; they're a dime a dozen.

My family and I stayed on Disney property once... The Beach Club Resort. We had an incredible experience. I would highly recommend the Beach Club for you as well, because you can access Epcot directly via a short walkway. Aside from that... the Boardwalk at this resort is fantastic!

Good luck and have a great trip! :)
