If you installed XP by booting the setup disc, then you might have done something you shouldn't have. In order to get rid of Vista, I'm pretty sure you would have to format the drive, the install XP. If you kept all of the files on your hard drive when you set up XP, the boot sector would probably still be set for Vista, since it's a more recent version of windows. Your best bet would be to reinstall XP again, but do a format before you install it, then it should have hopefully cleared all Vista crap. This is how I did it, and I now use XP again.

You can't reinstall an older operating system over a newer one. You gotta reformat and start all over and this time install XP first and then do a fresh install of Vista if you wanna keep both

One trick I've learned is if you have 2 hard drives put one windows program on the C and the other on the D. Just make sure that your computer recognizes the drives for what they are. One as the Master drive and the other as the slave drive.
