My papa's maybe
of this mama's baby
for he's anomalous
and she's miraculous.
He is an enigma of creation
endowed with independent attitude
This lyric to papa pays homage
by me for his weird gratitude
explore and rummage
a platypus is he
viviparous he be
duck-billed even on Father's day!

good luck

When I was in high school my dad and I couldn't have been more different. He is a very smart and didn't know how to relate to a teen who didn't get good grades. We never had anything in common either.

But, since then I've learned that I have to take charge and go out of my way to find things to do together.

Last year I entered us in a 5k walk for charity. Neither of us are in great shape so drudging along on that walk gave us lots of time to talk. It was a really good bonding moment... And we're going again this year too!

My advice is to think of the little moments that showed he was fair, caring, giving, or kind. You don't have to think "BIG"; it's the little things in life that help us understand how good are family members can be. Here's a little story about my dad. He had his own business shining floors, and he never finished high school. Maybe people wouldn't think that was so impressive. But when it came to hiring an assistant, he hired a guy with hair down past his shoulders. Everyone said, "how can you hire somebody who looks like that!?" He said, "hey, if he is trustworthy and is a good worker that's all that counts; he can look anyway he wants and be any color he happens to be." That made me so proud of him.

I always think of that old classic song..."Oh my papa" when I think of my dad! This is a REALLY old song that always brings a wee tear to my eye:

OH, MY PA-PA
Eddie Fisher

Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so good
No one could be, so gentle and so lovable
Oh, my pa-pa, he always understood.

Gone are the days when he could take me on his knee
And with a smile he'd change my tears to laughter

Oh, my pa-pa, so funny, so adorable
Always the clown so funny in his way
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Deep in my heart I miss him so today.

Here's a nice poem..not mine but one I would be proud to claim I did if I had of! :~)

What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

write about his successes & failures, and how he can pick himself up after failures and he never gloats about his successes. hes always there for you, no matter what. hes supportive of his family and of his life. and he shows that he cares even if the words dont come out right.
