My house is in Austin and i want a fun and beautiful place that i could go on vacation in texas, that is not too much of a drive.

San Antonio. It's only 1.5 hours away and has a Six Flags, Sea World, the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and lots of good food.

I'd suggest San Antonio.
Dallas and Houston would be okay for a weekend trip. There's not much in the way of famous attractions in either city. Dallas has the Southfork Ranch and the JFK museum. Houston has the Johnson Space Center.
If you want to have a fairly laid-back, relaxed-pace weekend trip, Dallas or Houston may be a good choice. Stay at a nice hotel for one or two nights. Go to some nice restaurants. Both cities have at least one very upscale mall. And both cities have baseball teams.

Try Padre Island. It's probably the nicest (& COOLEST) place to visit in Texas over the Summer- even if you can't swim! :)

My husband and I have enjoyed many weekend trips to Galveston. There is so much more to do there than simply hang out on the beach.
