I don't need to cancel the whole plan-- just my line. I'm on my mom's plan with Alltel-- it's her phone, plus 3 additional lines. I just want to cancel MY line and get my own service somewhere else. What are some of the reasons you can give where they will let you do that?

Yes, it is $10/month for my line... and I think she pays $10 more for my text messaging.

Does anyone know if we could just cancel my text messaging, and then I could just pay my mom her wasted $10 every month?

Talk to your mom, because it is a "family/group" plan there are penalties depend on the age of the account. It save money to be on a group plan maybe you could just pay to upgrade your phone as cancellation costs can be prohibitive.

You can probably call in to cancel your line, but if you're under a contract, you might have a to pay an early termination fee.

Tell them that you're moving out of the country. I did that when the army moved me to korea and I didnt have to pay any early fees. They cant charge you if you're moving out of the service area.

it depends on your mom's contract. you have to read the fine print. but if you get out of the extra line you might get charged for taking it out.
