x²+5x-6=0
(x+6)(x-1)=0
x+6=0
x=-6
x-1=0
x=1

x=1, -6

you could use the quadratic formula
x=(-5±√(5²+4*6))/2
x=(-5±√(25+24))/2
x=(-5±√49)/2
x=(-5±7)/2
x=(-5-7)/2=-12/2=-6
x=(-5+7)/2=2/2=1

x=1, -6

I think that instead of 5^2 you did 5*2 so you got 10+24=34 rather than 25+24=49 inside the radical.

Solve the "x" variable... x^2+5x-6 = 0

First: factor - multiply the 1st & 3rd term to get -6. find two numbers that give you -6 when multiplied & 5 (2nd term) when added/subtracted. the numbers are (-1 & 6). rewrite the expression with the new middle terms.

x^2 - 1x + 6x - 6 = 0

SEc: group "like" terms & factor both sets of parenthesis.

(x^2 - 1x) + (6x - 6) = 0
x(x-1) + 6(x-1) = 0
(x-1)(x+6) = 0

Third: solve the "x" variables - set both parenthesis to "0"

a. x-1 = 0 (add 1 to both sides - when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).
x-1+1 = 0+1
x = 1

b. x+6 = 0 (subtract 6 from both sides).
x+6-6 = 0-6
x=-6

Solutions: -6, 1

x^2 + 5x - 6 = 0
+6 +6

x^2 + 5x = 6 (5/2)^2 = 6.25
+6.25 +6.25

x^2 + 5x + 6.25 = 12.25

Quadratic Formula:

x = -5 + or - the square root of 5^2 -4 (1)(6.25) / 2(1)

x = -5 + or - 25 -4 (6.25) / 2

x = -5 + or - 25 - 25 / 2

x = -5 + or - 0 / 2

x = -5 + or - the square root of 0 / 2

x = -5 + 0 / 2 = 0 or x = -5 - 0 / 2 = 0

I think that x = 0, but I am not sure

By Factoring (reverse F.O.I.L. method)
x²+5x-6=0
(x-6)(x+1)
Then set each to equal 0
(x-6)=0
(x+1)=0
and solve those to get
6 and -1

x2 + 5x - 6 = 0
(x+6)(x-1)=0

Therefore, x+6=0, x=-6
And x-1=0, x =1

So, x=-6 or 1
