i picked chimchar as my starter i cant beat the gym he is lvl 14 but i lose eery time! need a pokemon that can help me win!

Don't just rely on Chimchar to beat him...use a variety or new Pokemon that you can catch. Grass and Water are recommended to beat the first Gym leader in Diamond and Pearl because he uses rock Pokemon.

The guy uses rock type. Chimchar will just loose. Get a pokemon that knows fighting type moves, grass pokemon + water type will be more effective.

first you have to learn your chimchar ember and then catch about 2 more strong pokemon (example ponyta, and bidoof) when you get those get them to level 8 then fight again

dont use any retarted moves like tailwhip or any stat changing moves they are a waste!
