Just like Liberal or Conservative, it describes a set of policies. When someone doesn't agree with those policies, they might think of it as a slur, but it's really just a description.

Do you think we shouldn't use labels like that? I mean, in theory, I agree, but it makes conversation more difficult. Do you want me to do a long diatribe every time I want to complain about a certain set of foreign policies? Can't I just bulk them together?

Of course, a lot of people use the term incorrectly, assuming that all Republicans are neoCons, which is patently untrue. If they were watching carefully, they'd realize that this Republican primary is about which segment of the party will lead over the next four years.

No. Its short for neoconservative, just like lib and con are short for liberal and conservative. Neoconservatives are the far-right extremists in America. I don't think neocon is meant to be a slur. Right-wing fascists are self described, no slurs are necessary.

drone? I've never heard a male bee call anybody a neocon.

They usually just buzz around.

However, I have now seen a neocon call somebody, in print, a male bee.

Nothing can really be a negative slur unless you allow it to be. The one that slings the word is not the one that puts power into it it is the one whom it is slung at that either gives it power or robs it of it.

It must be. You never see the likes of Richard Perle or Paul Wolfowitz on the talk shows. They're hiding in their vacation homes in France. That's the truth.

It depends on whether you think supporting American World dominance, at the expense of innocent lives, is a good thing, or a bad thing.

No, it's the anti-conservative phrase that they use to make us tick. Personally, I don't care because they have nothing to bring to the debate, so they just call us names. Typical, but what else do you expect out of them?

It doesn't bother me. I feel it's used by people who have learned a new word, much like a 3 year old who heard someone say a four letter word and tells his mommy to "f----- you!"

It basically means ultra conservative. And as to negative it is being bandied about as if it were...they are trying to use it like Rep's use "Liberal."

I would have to say I am a "Liberal Neo-Con" myself.
