Clinton didn't give a single dime to help our grandparents buy their prescriptions. They had to choose between food and medicines. Many ended up in the poor house.

Thank God that George Bush gave them prescription coverage. 75% of seniors are happy with their coverage.

Great job, Republicans!!!

Do Dems hate the truth?

Are they proud of this Clinton "accomplishment"--- have a surplus while Grandma and Grandpa suffer so much.

Part D (prescription coverage) is a drop in the bucket. For all it's improvement on the system, Medicare Part D still has HUGE problems. It's complex and hard to digest, for one thing -- not something you want to spring on an 85 year old stroke victim whose life depends on getting and paying for her maintance medications. Secondly, some, but not all of the previously excluded drugs have been moved from the non-covered to the covered list. If your cholesteral med just happens to be on the non-covered list -- tough luck. Better start eating catfood, Granny. Thirdly, let's face it. It's a Medicare plan and it's bound to be a quagmire. Trust me -- I used to work for a medical insurance company that carried a Medicare Supplement product. When Part D came on the scene, our Senior plan customers were NOT HAPPY. Neither were we, because we had to comply with Medicare guidelines and that is hairy, to say the least. Medicare is the 500 lb gorilla of the medical insurance field. Like Rosie O'Donnell, Medicare is big, it's ugly, and it is SCREWED UP.

in ordinary words God knows what percentage died because they could no longer have adequate money drugs, I also don't have self belief that the present bill is the perfect answer inspite of the indisputable fact that that's an outstanding commence to worrying for the elderly. be conscious to Lochmessy: The prescription plan is for Seniors over the age of sixty 5 (Medicare), you nevertheless have 8 years to pass before that's monetary impression to you is accepted

You must be living in wonderland Alice. Is that why most seniors have to choose between food and drugs now? The prescription plan was just a way for the drug companies to make more money. I don't know why I answer a trolls question.

Truth? Don't you dare abuse that word.

Clinton proposed just such coverage. The REPUBLICAN Congress didn't cooperate.

It's nice that they finally got around to it when Bush took office, but it was Clinton's idea, and he tried to get it passed.

Suck on that truth, Grandma.

Remember Clinton increased taxes on social security benefits.

I have to say both were disasters on prescription drugs. Clinton promised to create a system, but did not. Bush created the system Clinton wanted, but like every government program, it is unnecessary and inefficient.

None. It takes more than a single person to create the kind of legislation you're suggesting. Also, there are still plenty of seniors choosing between medicine and life's basic necessities. The latest program is a step in the right direction. I think we can do better.

I think you need to restudy your history. At least Clinton allowed people to buy cheaper medication from Mexico and Canada if they wanted. With Bush's new prescription coverage most people on Social Security have lost money, not gained it.

None died.
This is not a Republican accomplishment, it is a mark of shame. I'm a Republican, and I hate that they passed the prescription drug plan. It is just another socialst entitlement plan that future generations will be forced into debt for. It's socialism, so it's evil. And it is forcing us farther into debt, which is evil.

funny, most seniors I knew at the center that I delivered food for(which is now being cancelled), was perfectly happy with the clinton plan, and are having problems now.
My grandmother wasn't having problems with the Clinton plan then, and isn't having problems with the Bush plan now. guess what the difference is....
Family members have to pay for more of her medication now.

do people like you even know what is going on in reality, or do you just rely on polls as a source of news??

Ryan have you realized that social security payments were just increased, just enough to pay for the recent tax increase on it. don't know anyone on social security do you?? you do realize Clinton has been out of office for just of 6 years right??
