I'm guessing at the context you haven't given. A stopper is an object forced into the mouth of a bottle, jar, or test tube to keep the contents inside and everything else outside. In the early days, they were usually made of cork, see the reference. Nowadays they are more often made of rubber, synthetic rubber, or other plastic.

That is kind of a double wording, isn't it? A cork would be a type of stopper. I think it's just means a cork, used in place of a lid, so, a cork stopper would be in a bottle to close or seal it.

A cork is a stopper. It is used to cover a bottle, test tubes and other containers to avoid spilling.

yep its a cork as in a bottle of wine, tapered at one end.
