Only little white lies.

I am a big fat liar. I admit it freely. I learned to lie when I was just a little girl. My mother and father divorced and I lived with her and my older sister. My mother was career driven, not home often, and somewhat inattentive. I would get in serious trouble if I got poor grades so I figured out how to avoid the whole being grounded and getting the belt thing. I would save my school papers all week...the ones with the good grades. On Friday's when my teacher would send home all of my class work (that I usually had done poorly on) with a parent signature form, I would carefully peel back the staple holding the packet together and slip out the bad papers and slip in the good papers instead. I would then staple the papers back together and give them to my mom to sign. She would look through them and sign the slip...since I only had to give back the parent signature form she never caught on that I was screwing up...until report card time...and that's a whole other story.

These days I find myself lying to appease people so they don't get mad at me. For example: My mother asked me two weeks ago if I would come over for a work party she was hosting this past weekend. She sounded excited so I told her yes, even though I knew that I would not be able to go. On Saturday when she called to see where I was I told her I got caught up doing other things and couldn't make it.

I also lie to keep from getting in trouble with my clients, my husband, my parents...anyone. They are little white lies...my husband, reading over my shoulder, says I will lie about anything and everything to avoid conflict or cause less friction.

I lie to my clients every day, we all do. If we didn't lie we'd have to say .....

Your Mam and Dad aren't waiting for you at home because they're dead, you're an old lady and you live in an old people's home.

I call it a hotel when I'm talking to my ladies and gentlemen. I tell them that they're staying with us for a while and Mam and Dad/husband/wife/ the bairns know they're staying with us and therefore won't be worried.

One lady will walk the corridor literally all night (she was on a high for an entire ten hour nightshift the other week) worrying that her boys don't know where they are. Fortunately I memorised her daughter's phone number .... completely by accident, she said it once and I remembered it and asked her daughter if she knew who's it was, that's how I found out ..... so to try to calm her down, I tell her I've phoned them (lies) and she is so comforted when I apparently know the phone number which is proof to her that I'm telling the truth.

The degree of the badness of my lie is directly determined by how badly I want what I think I have to lie about.

I can not tell a lie, well except for little white lies or a lie to spare others feelings. Basically I am a very honest person.

I once told my little annoying cousin that there was money hidden in the closet...then i locked him in =)

You ever get an F on a test (my case math) and add that little line to make it look like an A? Yeah i've done that.

I switched the signs for the bathrooms at my school! WOO!!! IT was TOO funny!!!

The worst would be a white lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings.

everyone does to some extent. i lie about little things sometimes just so i don't have to get into a lengthy discussion. i use this technique mostly with my parents. i don't lie about big stuff though. I'm a firm believer in being responsible for your own actions.

Uh... of course not!

(I lied, of course I lie, who doesn't?)

Lying is a tool that can be used for good or evil. I consider myself a good guy. I lie to keep people from worrying about things that don't concern them and to prevent overly troublesome situations from arising. It makes life easier for many people, not just me, when I lie.

Yes I lie.
I say "I'm doing fine" even when I'm tired, cos I don't want to bore myself and him talking about my fatigue.
I've said "I love you" once without not knowing much about love.
I stole my sister's pink eraser when I was 7, and said "I swear to God I don't know where it is". It turns out I did, and I'm also agnostic.
etc

I don't deceive people (ie. cheat on partner) and there's no finacial profit due to my lies, so I think they aren't too bad...
But a lie is a lie, maybe I'm bad!
