Just a side note:

You would really need a larger cage then the one listed. At least 3-4 levels. The bigger the better.

Its not necessary to buy expensive carefresh for bedding. Old t-shirts and sweatshirts work great.

Litter pans are ALWAYS necessary with ferrets. Buy the largest ones you can find. Buy one for the cage and 2 or 3 for outside of the cage. (Unless you want to constantly be cleaning carpet or disinfecting your hardwood floors.)

Cat litter is OK despite what people think! The important thing here is to NEVER buy 'clumping litter'. You also want to make sure you buy a quality brand that does not produce a lot of 'dust'. If you are worried about fragrances...go for unscented. If you don't like clay litter...use Yesterdays News or something along that line.

I have never wasted my money on a ferret book!!! In today's world you can find EVERYTHING on-line for free! Here is an awesome ferret website that has more information then any book. It is also very easy to navigate AND has a small message board where you can ask experienced ferret owners questions.

GOOD LUCK!! :)

To this list I would add:

-Money set aside for medical bills.

Trust me, you'll be needing it at some point.
